Alappuzha Beach

Fondly known as the Venice of the East, Alappuzha has a network of lakes, lagoons and freshwater rivers interlacing its landscape.

Only a beach lover would know how each beach has its own character. If one bothers to notice, Alappuzha beach has always been a vibrant attraction, evident right from the maritime history of Kerala. Fondly known as the ‘Venice of the East’, Alappuzha has a network of lakes, lagoons and freshwater rivers interlacing its landscape.

A tranquil walk through the shores or lazing about making sandcastles or finding your moment of peace, anything you look forward to on a beach day, is gifted to you by Alappuzha Beach.  The ancient pier and lighthouse and remnants of a history that carved a significant mark in the maritime map of Kerala are attractions one shouldn’t miss here. The pier built by Captain Crawford is over 140 years old. Find yourself lost in the palm-fringed lush greenery marking the beach over one side and the pier extending into the sea on the other side weaving endless tales of history.

The beach also plays host to many events, especially during the New Year celebrations. The open-air event with the sky and sea to witness the festivities, is an unparalleled experience. The Vijaya Park situated near the beach is the perfect place to keep your little ones busy with toy trains and other engaging activities.
