Beaches are nature’s special gifts to us. No matter how hard a day is, the sight, sound and feel of the deep blue waters kissing the shores soothes us down. Among Kerala’s many beaches that lie along its long shore, Alappuzha owns a handful of precious ones. The Andhakaranazhy Beach is one of these best-kept secret destinations that has slowly opened up before the world in all its charm. The Beach is located in the beautiful village of Andhakaranazhy. One of the few non-commercialised beaches in Kerala, Andhakaranazhy lets you enjoy the beauty of the shore in its purest form.
Andhakaranazhy means ‘Lagoon of Darkness’. However, the name has nothing to do with the bright and sprightly shore. This blissful strip of land offers stunning sights of the Alappuzha backwaters on one side and the majestic Arabian Sea on the other. There is a lighthouse on the beach that is used to guide seamen during the night. You can take a peaceful walk along the long walkway on the beach that extends up to the seawall. This is also a vantage point from where you can experience one of the finest sunset sights of your life.
