A tiny, picturesque island with emerald green waters on all sides, Kakkathuruthu was a lesser-known destination until recently. Now, it has opened up for the world with its natural virtues that will win your heart right in the first glimpse.
Kakkathuruthu translates as ‘Island of crows’. However, there are much more than crows that welcome you to this island. Drenched in greenery everywhere, Kakkathuruthu is covered with coconut trees. One of the most breathtaking views from this island is that of the sunset. You will be lost for words as you enjoy this sight in the backdrop of the Vembanad Lake and lush paddy fields. There are many small ponds and waterbodies within this island where you can see ducks frolicking around freely. The island is also a haven for many species of migratory birds.
